CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE

The term cardiovascular disease encompasses all diseases that affect the circulatory system. This includes the heart, the vasculature and the brain.

High blood pressure, heart attack, blood clots and stroke are the major diseases of the cardiovascular system.

While family history of cardiovascular disease increases risk, the most common cause for cardiovascular disease is an unhealthy lifestyle.  Please visit the American Heart Association and the National Institutes of Health’s web sites for more information on how to reduce your risk for cardiovascular disease.
